2 STATES

After almost 200 years of  snobbish rule in India, the Britishers were finally thrown off the country in August,1947.But that was not the end.The independence led to the partition between India and Pakistan and these two countries still  continue to share rivalry.

After 1947,the NIZAM of Hyderabad (a mughal king) wanted Hyderabad state to remain independent as a princely state. Nevertheless, in the year 1953, Andhra was separated from Madras state and was formerly called as seemandhra. However in 1956, Hyderabad was merged into Andhra and the state was named as ANDHRA PRADESH(AP).

A few years later,in 1969 the movement for a separate Telangana state took its wings. But the movement wasn't a mere success then. It was only in the first decade of the 21st century that the agitation for a new TELANGANA state took pace. The movement accelerated at a swift rate after the tragic death of  the then CM of AP,YSR.Eventually after a heinous struggle, and after many people sacrificing their lives for the sake of new state, after a series of unpleasant incidents and protests, the bill for the formation of Telangana as a separate state was passed and TELANGANA emerged as the 29th state of India!

It is on the 2nd of June,2014 that the Telangana got separated from AP officially. The AP state originally comprised of 23 districts. Post bifurcation, the number of districts in AP(the residuary state) remained 13 ,where as the other 10 districts are now a part of Telangana state.
The assembly constituencies accounted to 294 initially. Post bifurcation, the assembly constituncies in Telangana state reckon to 119 and the rest 175 constituencies are from AP.The centre decided that HYDERABAD will be the joint capital for the two states for atmost 10 years.

The assembly elections in AP always coincide with the Parliament elections. This time as well, the two states Telangana and AP had a simultaneous elections with the central elections .
The BJP party in the central had got a clear majority as well as TDP and TRS in AP & Telangana states respectively.
Now as the telangana being carved out of AP,the people in both these regions have different opinions on it. I respect every individual's opinion. The new state has already been formed and we people if are  still chewing over this issue and lamenting about this would be ridiculous or insensible.
The Bifurcation process is not a child's play as it seems to be. Everything needs to be changed and reformed. There will be many issues which are to be sorted out.The power distribution, water disribution, transferring the bureaucrats to their respective regions are some of the few issues to be sorted.

Now let us compare how both the governments fared till date.

Let's look into the Andhra Pradesh state first!
I wouldn't hesitate to say that ,despite having an elegant and efficient leader who has ruled the AP state for almost 10 years, the AP state is undoubtedly going through a rough path eversince the bifurcaion. The main issues being listed below.

>>The new government was lacking funds and is very desperate to develop the state.
>>Initially there was no assembly in the AP to conduct any sessions.
>>The state has to build a new capital region as hyderabad will be served as a joint capital for not more than 10 years. The government needs funds to build the capital as well.
>>The IT  industry needs a nudge in AP.
>>The HUD-HUD in the month of october cyclone came in as a new headache and doubled the already existing problems. The damage caused by the cyclone was overwhelming and was stated that the damage loss was approximately 22k crores.
>>AP govt demands centre to give a special status to the state.
>>Chandra Babu Naidu assured the people that the new capital which is being built in VGTM(vizag, guntur, tenali, machilipatnam) region would be ready by 2019 and will be a replica of  Singapore.

Meanwhile the situation in Telangana state was quite opposite to that in AP.
>>KCR during the election campaigns stated that he had no interest for the CM's chair and told that it would be offered to a BC candidate. But he downplayed his promise and became the first CM of Telangana state.
>>The TS govt kept up its promise of waiving off farmers loans.
>>The two governments of AP and TS had a row over the power and water distribution issues, but were cordially solved to some extent after the interference of the Governor.
>>If there was any serious hurdle that the Telangana govt faced ,it would be the power crisis. The state was in dearth of electricity. There were long hours of power cuts in the city during the intial stages after the new state was formed. The CM has done commendably well in solving this issue amicably.
>>Sania Mirza has been made as the brand ambassador for the state and was given 2cr in two installments.
>>The govt of TS wants to put an end to immersion of Ganesh idols
in the hussain sagar lake in an attempt to shape hussain sagar into a clean lake.
>>The govt also told that it would provide free wifi around the necklace road, but failed to do so.
>>The TS govt spent RS 10 crore specially for the Bathukamma festival.
>>The TS state is second in row after Gujrat in having better economy.

By referring to the above listed points we can infer that the TS has affluent funds while AP is struggling to stand on it's knees lacking funds.

Let's wish that this telugu new year will do good for both the telugu speaking states and the telugu people and let's hope that both the governments will keep up their promises and work for the welfare of the people without any complacency.
